As part of Pankhurst in the Park arts programme, we have established an Artist Residency for an artist to explore Alexandra Park’s significant heritage connected to the iconic Suffragettes leader, Emmeline Pankhurst. Pankhurst (born Goulden, 1858 –1928) was a political activist and instrumental in gaining the right for women to vote.
This AIR opportunity welcomed Greater Manchester-based female artists working in any art form to be inspired by, contemporise and creatively illuminate the significant local history that is linked to Alexandra Park. The residency places a strong emphasis on engagement and collaboration, seeking to deepen the existing relationships between Alexandra Park and the multicultural community surrounding it.
Applications are now closed and the successful artist will be announced in early February.
